One of the most amazing testimonies to the success of what's going on in world missions today is
what’s happening among the least reached people groups.
After the launching of the Call2all movement in 2007, we met with a wide group of top Christian leaders to identify
the agreed upon essential elements of the Great Commission.
Top on our list was to help facilitate the evangelism and discipling of those who have
no access to the gospel.
We call these the
"Unengaged Unreached People Groups" (UUPGs). Most of these are part of 639 UUPGs with a combined population of approximately
554 million people.
To the best of our knowledge, before a few years ago,
none of these groups had a Christian witness. There were no known believers among them.
This is all changing. Several major organizations and denominations made reaching these groups a priority.
In Call2all we made this a top priority. Paul Eshleman, who devoted much of his life to successfully leading the Jesus film project, took the lead on this initiative for Call2all.
He calls it "Finishing the Task".
In Call2all congresses throughout 2008 and 2009
Paul led thousands of Christian leaders from many different organizations into making specific commitments towards engaging unreached people groups. This has helped accelerate the completion of the 639 task.
In Paul's most recent report he reported the
tremendous progress achieved over the last few years in engaging these 639 UPGs. These results represent his own research, as well as numbers from several other databases from partner organizations.
Out of the 639 unengaged unreached people groups, we have now engaged 469! This is an amazing accomplishment...
Over 4,000 full and part time workers are now in these previously unreached areas.
One of the amazing statistics is: "
that the 170 UUPGs yet to engage only represent 68 million people of the original 554 million."This is one of the most powerful accomplishments in church history.
God truly is on the move! Here are some other exciting statistics:
- 7,083 churches have been planted among these groups
- 7,574 small groups formed
- 43,397 baptisms reported
- UUPGs in 73 different countries have been engaged.
All 639 UUPGs have been
adopted and we are believing soon that we will receive reports from the field that they have been
engaged.
All thanks be to Jesus whose leading His church in this wonderful hour!
