Call2All Next Generation | Warrior Worship
New Zealand itinerant worship leader Cindy Ruakere was leading the morning sessions for the recent Call2All Next Generation in Tuaranga.
Hundreds of young people worshipped God to her prophetic songs. She captured many hearts with the words of ‘Receive’. As the people committed their lives to Christ they sang together: ‘That the lamb may receive a reward for His suffering, that the lamb may receive His reward through me,’
Cindy, from Hamilton, is half Maori and half European or ‘Pakeha’ as white people are called in New Zealand. She carries the sound of the indigenous people when she worships, and her Maori warrior roots are revealed as she gives the haka warrior cry. ‘The sound of the New Zealand nation is a warfare sound, it’s provocative, and calls the people to worship the King,’ she says.
‘God has placed within each nation a sound. New Zealand has had a tendency to not think they are good enough, and so they import second hand and cloned sounds. Cloning is never as good as the original.
‘My heart is for every tribe and tongue to find their voice and worship in it.
‘A friend recently said to me, that when I talk I am a Pakeha, but when I worship I am Maori, and I resonate with that. ‘It is my purpose and design to release the indigenous sound, I feel I am commissioned to awaken that sound within the nations,’ said Cindy while at Call2All.
She feels released into the fullness of her gifting when she is worshipping with people from the nations. She says: ‘It provokes a reaction inside me hearing the cry of the nations. I love hearing responses in French, Samoan and other tongues.’
Cindy’s advice to young worship leaders is to be true to who you are. It’s good to have a model, but find the sound God has placed in you. That is when the Spirit of the Lord will fall on you. It is the less trodden path to discover your unique sound, but the results will be powerful.
Cindy Ruakere is a gift to the body of Christ. She is bringing the sound of the warriors to awaken the church to fulfil the Great commission and fall more in love with King Jesus.
