Congress Closing Highlights: Commitments
1 February 2008
A Call to Commitment at the Call2all Congress
The final morning was a call to commitment. It brought together all the elements that took place in the various plenary sessions, workshops and discussions that participants engaged in through the week.
In a round table setting, delegates prayed blessings and encouragement on one another. Time was provided for personal business with God regarding some issues of importance raised in the area of new ways of ministry thinking and new frontiers.
Making Commitments
In the second part of the morning, participants were requested to gather in affinity groups and make corporate commitment towards 2020. This was particularly in relation to the number of people to be reached, decisions for Christ, new churches to be planted, engaging with the unengaged unreached people groups, oral bible teams and new omega zones to be adopted.
The combined totals are below:
- People hearing the Gospel 1, 016 822 448
- Expected decisions 104, 633 263
- New Church Plants 1, 153 676
- Commitments to reach UUPG 3,666
- New Orality Bible Teams 9,099
“It is possible that we can reach the young generation in a more meaningful way as we partner with the Church through rapidly reproducing discipleship movements in our region in Southern Africa.” – Stefaan Hugo, National Director, YWAM South Africa
Looking Toward Africa
Seeing that the next series of Call2all congress will be hosted in Nigeria and Uganda respectively, the session concluded with a prayer for the continent of Africa as the African delegation came up stage and celebrated the opportunity with prayer, dancing and rejoicing.
“Even though we have few resources in Africa, people are very willing and I am excited that we are going to put together our efforts to reach the unreached in Africa,” said Samuel Usabwimana, from Rwanda.
Many participants were positively moved as the Congress ended.
"This was a momentum builder toward finishing the task together…the most precious element for me was listening to God together."– Steve Hawthorne, Waymakers.
"The greatest thing for me as a volunteer is that I see how I am part of a huge thing in many different areas." – Lina Francis, YWAM Orlando
"I can honestly say that I have great hope for the kick-off of something that is going make an impact where Christianity is non-existent, through our unity in the body of Christ." – Gina Fadely, International Director, YWAM Frontier Missions.
